This might come as a surprise, but five years ago, I worked exclusively on the computer. It was my editor, Nami, who convinced me to try painting, after seeing sketches for The Little Matador - and I'm soooo glad that she did. Working digitally was very convenient in college, but it was hard for me to connect with the work. I missed all of the sketches and color studies that it took to create non-digital illustrations, and hated how bare my studio walls were, due to a process that lived on my computer.
